Craig's Current - Ward 12 Development Updates

Deadlines for Comments and Upcoming Public Meeting

Hello, Ward 12! I'm sending this interim newsletter to let you know about some important opportunities for public engagement on Official Plan (OP) Amendment development applications that will occur before my next Craig's Current newsletter is issued. Four Official Plan amendment applications are inviting comments before the end of January. Actions you can take, and instructions are linked below for the following developments.

442-462 WILSON STREET EAST

Comments to the OLT due by: Tuesday, January 20, 2026

This is the former Brandon House property on the corner of Wilson St East and Rousseaux Street. The landowner is appealing to the OLT for approval of an Official Plan Amendment, and the deadline to submit your comments in time for the first Case Management Conference (CMC) is Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

The OLT is a Provincial tribunal, meaning your comments will go to the Province and this application will transfer from the City's Planning Division to the City's Legal Division. Municipal Councillors do not have a say in OLT proceedings. Detailed OLT commenting instructions, links to the online meeting, and links to the submission materials are in the 'OLT' tab at my website here.

1348 CONCESSION 2 ROAD WEST, FLAMBOROUGH

Comments due by: Monday, January 26, 2026

Copetown Woods Golf Course has applied to expand its course at 1348 Concession 2 Road West in Flamborough. Public comments to the City’s Planning Division are now open. Instructions and more information at my website here.

159-163 SULPHUR SPRINGS ROAD – URBAN EXPANSION INTO THE GREENBELT

Comments to the OLT due by: Friday, January 30, 2026

On September 17, 2025, Hamilton City Council denied this application to expand Hamilton’s urban boundary into the Greenbelt to allow the construction of 75 dwellings on a condominium road. The proponents have appealed the City’s decision to the OLT and the deadline to submit your comments in time for the first Case Management Conference (CMC) is Friday, January 30, 2026.

The OLT is a Provincial tribunal, meaning your comments will go to the Province and this application will transfer from the City's Planning Division to the City's Legal Division. Municipal Councillors do not have a say in OLT proceedings. Detailed OLT commenting instructions, links to the online meeting, and links to the submission materials are in the 'OLT' tab at my website here

398-412 WILSON STREET EAST & 15 LORNE AVENUE COMMUNITY MEETING

Meeting date: Wednesday, January 28, 2026
TIME: 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm
LOCATION: St. John’s Parish Hall, 37 Halson Street, Ancaster

Urban Solutions Planning and Land Development will hold a neighbourhood meeting on behalf of landowner Wilson St Ancaster Inc. for the development proposal for 398 – 412 Wilson Street East & 15 Lorne Avenue. Everyone is invited. No RSVP is necessary.

The developer is hosting this meeting to provide an opportunity for the community to learn about the proposal details and to answer any questions you may have.

The proposed development entails one (1) 8-storey mixed-use building containing 118 dwelling units, and approximately 1,475 square metres of ground floor commercial space. The proposal is accommodated by 263 parking spaces contained in an underground parking garage as well as a surface parking lot, and 190 bicycle parking spaces.

City Staff and I will be in attendance. A future date for this application to be heard at the City Planning Committee has not yet been determined, but my office will keep the community informed through social media and my newsletter when that meeting is scheduled. More information at my website here.
